You will still have the ability to run a Takeoff, without a set of plans.

To begin, launch Buildertrend Takeoff. Click the (+) and select Blank Page.

You will want to Scale the blank page based off of the largest measurement of the room.

Use the Enable Ortho feature to ensure you have a straight line on your blank page. This feature is located under the Options tab.

Any Notes that need to be added, can be done under the Tools tab.

Once the scale is set properly, you will utilize the Linear tool to set a Y-axis dimension on your blank page.

Once you click on the Linear tab, update the below:

  • Linear Name

  • Linear Type - (Standard Linear)

  • Linear Width

  • Linear Color

Then click Start.

To view a live readout of measurements, select the Options tab and click on Enable Hover Label.

Once enabled, utilize the Linear tool for all known room dimensions, that way you can show the length of each individual wall.

As a best practice:

  • Continue to use the Notes feature to track updates for each measurement and needed materials.

  • As you apply your Assemblies, continue to utilize the Enable Hover Label feature to view measurements for each area.
