Before the Joist Tool is used in Buildertrend Takeoff, you will need to ensure the Floor Joist and Roof Rafter parts are correctly updated.

First, launch Buildertrend Takeoff and click on Estimating and select Parts Catalog.

Next, click on Add New Catalog.

Update the Catalog Name and Catalog Description.

The Manufacturer and Catalog Type, should match the below if you are creating a Floor Joist Catalog.

Once complete, click Save.

Open the Joist Tool Parts catalog.

From here, you will have the ability to drag and drop any folders from the Joist Tool Parts catalog, to your newly created Floor Joist catalog.

A popup will appear, type YES to confirm and click OK.

Follow the same steps above for your Roof Rafter parts.

When adding a new catalog select Joist Catalog - Roof, for the Catalog Type in this instance.

Once you have all correct Joist & Roof Rafter parts copied over to your newly created Catalogs, the Joist Tool will be utilizing multiple sizes of lumber, so each size board will need to have a corresponding cost code, cost, and markup in order for the data to correctly transfer to the Buildertrend estimate.
