To set up your payment method to make outbound payments, navigate to Setup.

From here, scroll down to the bottom and select Online Payments.

Select Add Payment Method in the bottom right.

We recommend filling in the name of your bank and account type in the nickname field.

Choose ACH or Credit Card from the payment type dropdown.

At this point, you will be prompted to begin verifying your bank account.

For instant verification, Buildertrend utilizes a third-party authorization tool known as Plaid. Plaid is the most secure way to verify your bank account. This information is not stored in Buildertrend, and is only used to verify the bank belongs to the owner.

Plaid is used by thousands of online merchants across the United States, Canada, & Europe, including Venmo & Paypal. Buildertrend recommends using Plaid to verify your bank account for the best and most secured experience while making online payments.

Plaid - Instant Bank Verification

To verify your bank account instantly, select Continue in the verification window.

From here, search for your bank.

Enter your online banking login information and hit submit. Login information is only used to verify bank ownership and is not stored by Buildertrend. Is not accessible by any employee, individual associated with your account, and is a one-time verification tool.

Select which bank account you would like to link from the available bank accounts.

For final verification, enter your full name and email address and then select Authorize Account.

You will be routed back to Buildertrend for final approval. Select Confirm to finalize the bank account.

The setup screen will reload, then you will see your ACH method saved on the list below. You are now ready to pay your subs and vendors.

Manual Verification

If you prefer, you can use manual verification to set up your ACH payment method. The steps are similar but will require access to your bank routing number and account number. Start by selecting Add Payment Method.

Fill out your bank name and account type under nickname and choose ACH for the payment type. Select Next to continue.

Select Set-up Bank Account to proceed.

Select Manually Enter Account and Routing Info to set up your bank account manually. Additionally, you need to select which bank account type at the bottom. Choosing the wrong bank account type can cause delays in verifying your account information.

When you finish, you will be met with a prompt to manually verify your bank account using a process known as Micro Deposit Verification. Micro deposits are how banks verify the ownership of bank accounts and is an online banking industry norm.

Payments will not successfully transact until the bank information has been verified. One final confirmation will appear. Click confirm.

Immediately, you will be sent an email from the online merchant. However, micro deposits will not post into your bank account until 1-2 days later.

Once the micro deposits have posted, return to the email, and click the link. Enter the exact amounts in the fields. The transactions will be between $.01 & $.20.

Entering in the information inaccurately can delay the verification of your account. You can also reach out to Buildertrend Support who can take the micro deposit amounts and verify them on your behalf.

Back in Buildertrend, you will see your bank account listed. However, if you chose manual account verification still need to verify your bank account via micro deposits for payments to work successfully.

Credit Card Setup

Setting up a credit card is simple. After choosing the credit card option you will be taken to a screen to enter your information.

After entering your information, you will be asked to enter your email. After doing so, select confirm.

Back in Buildertrend, you will see your bank account listed and ready to use to pay subs and vendors.
