If estimating in Excel is a process you like, you can easily maintain that process and import your data into Buildertrend's Estimate feature. This allows you to keep your estimating process in Excel while still having access to Buildertrend's financial features for better job costing.

From the Import drop-down, select Estimate from Excel.

From here, you can select Browse My Computer for the Excel file or Browse Buildertrend Files if the file is already stored in your Buildertrend account. Click Next to proceed.

You can map each column from the Excel document to the specific data sections in Buildertrend to ensure the import was accurate. Click Next to proceed.

(Note: You can now import Cost Type. However, it must be one of the 7 preset Cost Types that are already in Buildertrend and you cannot import more than 1 per line item. You can add more than 1 per line item once the Estimate from Excel imports.)

At this point, you will be able to review and confirm mapping Cost Codes. Once mapped click Next.

Next, you will be able to review and confirm mapping Cost Types.

(🌟 Best Practice: Use the same Cost Codes and Cost Types in your Excel Sheet that you have in Buildertrend to speed up the import process.)

Click Next to get to the Review & Import page. Click Next again and your import is done.
