The Time Clock feature is easy to implement with your team and will immediately give you the ability to track time within Buildertrend. Clocking in and out is a button click away and their time and location when clocking and out will be tracked and pinned in the background.




Setup Options:

Clocking In

As you initially log in, you can clock in directly from your summary page.

To see more information, the Time Clock feature can be found under the Project Management header.

You are able to clock in from this page as well.

Based on your permissions, you may be able to clock in users other than yourself.

You can clock in one or more users at a time by selecting the user(s) that you are clocking in.

Selecting a Job

When clocking in, either yourself or other users, you can select which job you would like to allocate the hours.

If this shift does not necessarily relate to a job you have, the General option will be available to you in order to capture hours that do not relate to a particular job. The General job does not work with Buildertrend's geofencing functionality.

Assigning a Cost Code

You are able to select a cost code for this shift as well. This adds more detail to the shift itself.

Cost codes can be set as Time Clock Labor Codes within Setup - Cost Codes.

By selecting the Time Clock Labor Code checkbox and saving, this cost code will now be available for users to utilize when clocking in.

Taking Breaks

When you select the Time Clock feature, the interface allows you to see valuable information without needing to click into a shift or run a specific report.

To take a break, you must be clocked in for the button to appear. The Actions dropdown houses the button to take a break.

At this point, the shift is paused and break time is now being tracked. To end a break, the End Break button can be found within the Actions dropdown as well as within the grid. Clocking out will automatically end a break.

Once a shift is selected, break information will be displayed in the Breaks tab. Users with proper permissions will be able to Add and Edit breaks.

You are able to clock in and out and take break directly from the Summary page as well.

Clocking Out

When clocking out, users will be able to verify the information is correct before clocking out.

Once the button is pressed, the user is clocked out and a location pin is dropped. This action will end the shift.

Location Tracking

When Users clock in or out, a location pin will be dropped. This works for both desktop and mobile application. Users will need to allow Buildertrend to track their location in order for the pin to drop. If a user has denied Buildertrend's access to this information, the pin will not be dropped, but the shift will still be recorded.

Please note: Buildertrend will only access the location of a user when clocking in and when clocking out.

Setting Up a Geofence

Setting a geofence will allow to to see who is clocking in or out away from the job site. You can receive notifications when a user clocks in or out from somewhere other than the job site. The settings for geofencing are available within your setup options under Time Clock. The geofencing setup options are located at the bottom of the page.

From here, you can set your Radius. You can select miles or kilometers as well as set a default distance from the four distances provided. The selected radius applies to all jobs.

You also have the option to default this feature for all future jobs.

You do have the option to turn geofencing on or off for each job. This setting can be located within Job Details for an individual job. The setting can be found in the Options tab.

You must enter the correct address when creating a job to ensure geofencing works correctly.

In some cases, the location pin for a job may be incorrectly positioned upon entry. You have the option to adjust the pin by clicking on it to ensure your radius is correctly mapped.
