Project Management Updates

Change Orders | Proposal Style Formatting (phase 2) | 08.20.25

You can now use the new Preview tab and enhanced formatting options to control exactly how pricing details are displayed to your clients. This gives you more flexibility to tailor each Change Order to the situation, without extra workarounds.

With customizable pricing visibility and live previews, you’ll communicate scope changes more clearly, strengthen client confidence, and save time by streamlining the process from creation to approval.

Phase One: Released 07.30.25

All client contacts, whether active or inactive, can now review and approve Change Orders online through a consistent, professional interface. You’ll also have full control over who is required to sign, supporting multi-signature approvals when needed.

This update eliminates manual workarounds, aligns the client experience with Proposals, and ensures approvals are accurate by letting you define exactly which client contacts can approve or decline.

Daily Logs | Improved Clarity of the Daily Log List | 08.06.25

We’ve redesigned the Daily Log list to help you find information faster. All notes are now fully visible without clicking “Read More,” and you can view custom fields, edit or print with a single click, and open attached documents right from the list. Photo previews are more compact, and a timestamp icon shows when each log was created or updated. These enhancements make it easier to stay informed, take action quickly, and keep your projects on track.

Schedule | Move Shift Reasons into Schedule Item details | 08.06.25

We’ve added a new column in the Shift tab that clearly shows why a shift was moved. You can also easily update the reason using the new action button. This update replaces shift notes, which were rarely used, and simplifies how shift reasons are captured.

Now, shift reasons are only prompted when editing within schedule item details, whether the schedule is online or offline, making it easier to keep your team aligned and your schedule accurate.

Financial Management Updates

Job Costing Budget | PO Cost Forecasting / Unreleased POs

We’ve added a new setting that lets you include unreleased Purchase Orders (POs) in your Job Costing Budget. When enabled, these POs will appear in the Pending Costs column until they are approved, giving you earlier insight into your projected costs.

This added visibility helps you forecast more accurately, streamline your budgeting process, and reduce the manual work often needed to track upcoming costs.

Estimate | Reuse Line Items from Past Estimates | 08.13.25

You can now copy individual line items from past estimate worksheets directly into your current estimate. Key details like description, quantity, and unit price come along automatically, saving you time and reducing the need for manual entry.

This makes it faster and easier to reuse relevant scope from past work, helping you move proposals from draft to sent with greater accuracy and less effort.

Invoices | Auto-Fill Markup on Open Book Jobs | 08.06.25

For Open Book jobs, Buildertrend now auto-fills the markup field on invoices based on the cost code AND cost type from the original estimate.

This eliminates the need to manually re-enter markup values for each invoice, saving time and reducing the chance of errors.

It also ensures greater accuracy and consistency across your billing process, helping you maintain professional standards and maximize profitability.

Job Costing Budget | Persist Markup to Revised Client Price from Estimate Data | 08.06.25

We're improving how the Revised Client Price (RCP) is calculated by pulling directly from the signed estimate, rather than relying solely on job markup defaults.

This means your client-facing financials will more accurately reflect the actual contract, helping build trust and reduce confusion. It also ensures the Job Costing Budget aligns with what your clients see, making it easier to track profitability, reduce errors, and present clean, reliable numbers throughout the life of the project.

Estimate | View Estimate Worksheet in Proposal Dashboard | 08.06.25

You can now view past estimate worksheets directly within the Proposal Dashboard without exporting to Excel just to reference prior versions.

This enhancement helps you stay focused in Buildertrend, cuts down on manual work, and makes it easier to compare changes across proposals over time. It’s a faster, more efficient way to keep your estimates organized and accessible right where you need them.

Invoices | Default Draw Schedule for Fixed Price Jobs | 08.06.25

You can now create a default draw schedule at the account level that will automatically apply to all new Fixed Price jobs. This saves you from manually setting the same schedule each time.

If a specific job needs a different schedule, you can still customize it as needed. This update helps reduce repetitive setup steps, keeps your billing process consistent, and improves overall efficiency.

Invoices | Create and Manage Draw Schedules on Invoice Page | 08.06.25

You can now create and manage Draw Schedules right from the Invoices tab, making it easier to stay organized and streamline your billing workflow. This update improves visibility and saves time by reducing the need to navigate elsewhere to set up milestone billing. Available for Fixed Price and Billed When Finished jobs.
