The Daily Log feature on the Buildertrend mobile app simplifies on-site documentation by letting you record updates in real time. From progress notes and weather conditions to deliveries and jobsite activity, you can easily capture and share critical information.
This instant communication keeps your team, subcontractors, and clients informed, reduces back-and-forth calls or emails, and helps maintain an accurate and efficient project timeline.

Navigating to Daily Logs
Start by tapping Daily Logs at the bottom of the screen to access your Daily Logs.
Note: If you want to see Daily Logs for a specific job, make sure you select a specific job from the Jobs List.
View, Add, and Edit Daily Logs
Adding a new Daily Log
To add a new Daily Log, tap the + icon, select a job, and enter the necessary details. Then tap Close Draft to save your progress and return later, or Save to complete and submit the log.
*Note: Creating a Daily Log from the mobile app allows you to save the daily log as a draft so that you can update it throughout the day.
This draft is only accessible by the individual AND mobile device that started the draft.
Daily Log fields
Title – A brief label summarizing the Daily Log entry.
Job – The job the log is associated with.
Date – The date the log is being recorded for. (Daily Logs cannot be created on a future date)
Notes – Detailed notes or updates about the day’s work or jobsite activity.
Attachments – Take photos or upload supporting files or documents related to the daily log.
Share – If toggled off, visibility will be restricted to only the internal user who created the daily log. If toggled on, you can share the daily log with the selected users.
Internal Users – Allows all internal team members with job access to view the daily log.
Subs/Vendors – Allows subcontractors and vendors with job access to view the daily log.
Clients – Allows the client(s) assigned to the job to view the daily log.
Notify Users – Send notifications to selected users when the log is saved.
Weather Conditions – Automatically populates weather data based on the job's address.
Weather Notes – Add context about how the weather may have impacted progress or site conditions.
Tags – Organize logs by keywords or categories to make searching easier later.
💡Pro Tips
You can add a Daily Log from the Quick Add menu for an expedited experience.
Utilize voice-to-text to quickly add in Notes, rather than typing manually.
Use your mobile device's camera to capture and upload photos of the job site before and after work is completed, enhancing transparency and providing a clear visual record.
Quickly select multiple photos/videos from your phone’s photo library to attach to a Daily Log.
View/Edit existing Daily Logs
To view and modify an existing Daily Log, tap on the Daily Log, then select Edit to make your changes.
Related Items & Comments
In addition to adding and editing Daily Logs, you can create Related Items like To-Do’s directly from the log and leave comments to keep your team informed and aligned.
