The Time Clock feature on the Buildertrend mobile app makes tracking work hours simple and accurate. Team members can clock in instantly, select labor codes for job costing, and ensure accountability with job site geofencing. This not only streamlines payroll but also supports precise tracking of labor costs for every project.

Clocking In
You can clock in directly from the Summary screen, by tapping Clock In. Select the job you’re working on, or choose General if the shift isn’t tied to a specific job. Enter the required details, then tap Clock In to begin tracking your time.
Note: If geofencing is enabled, your location at the time you clock in will be tracked against the job location.
Your location will not be tracked during your shift.
Time Clock fields
Job – Select the job you're clocking time against.
Cost Code – Choose the specific labor code to ensure accurate job costing and reporting.
Tags – Add relevant tags to help categorize and filter time entries for reporting or organization.
Notes – Enter any additional details about the work performed during the shift for context and clarity.
Clocking Other Users In
Depending on your permissions, you may have the ability to clock in other users.
Begin by, tapping Time Clock at the bottom of the screen. Open the ellipsis menu (···) and select Clock In Users. Fill in the required details, then tap Clock In to start tracking time for the selected team members.
Logging a Break
When clocked in, you can log a break, such as lunch, instead of clocking out. This allows you to pause your shift without ending it.
From the Summary page or the Time Clock Overview, tap Take Break.
When your break is over and you're ready to resume work, simply tap End Break from the Summary page or the Time Clock Overview.
Switching Jobs
If you're working across multiple job sites in a day, you can use the Switch Jobs feature in the Time Clock on the mobile app to seamlessly move between jobs without clocking out. This keeps your time tracking continuous while accurately recording hours for each job site.
While clocked in, tap Switch Job from the Time Clock Overview. Choose the next job site you're working on, fill in the necessary details, and tap Switch to start tracking time under the new job.
Clocking Out
At the end of your shift, from the Summary page or the Time Clock Overview, tap Clock Out to stop tracking your time for the day.
Note: If geofencing is enabled, your location at the time you clock out will be tracked against the job location.
Viewing Shifts
The Shifts tab in the Time Clock displays a history of your past shifts. You can click on a shift to make edits if needed.
**Users with expanded Time Clock permissions can also view and edit shift details for other users, as well as clock them out when needed.
The Map tab will display all clock ins/outs on a map.
Buildertrend's Time Clock Widget for Mobile
Buildertrend offers a Time Clock widget that can be added to your mobile device's home screen. This convenient tool serves as a quick-access reminder to clock in and out, helping you consistently track your time and avoid missed hours.
Adding the Time Clock Widget on Apple iOS
Press and hold an empty area of your home screen until the apps start to jiggle.
Select Add Widget from the Edit menu.
Click Buildertrend from your list of available widgets.
Tap Add Widget.
Move the widget to its desired location, when finished tap Done.
Adding the Time Clock Widget on Android
Press and hold an empty area of your home screen.
Select Widgets from the home screen edit menu.
Click Buildertrend from your list of available widgets.
Tap Add on the widget.
Move the widget to its desired location, when finished tap an empty space on the home screen.
