Comments

Comments facilitate communication between users about specific items within a job. Since comments are job-specific, all comments in your account are organized by job within Buildertrend. This feature is accessible on both Desktop and Mobile.

*Note: You may navigate to the feature you wish to create a Comment for and begin the workflow there, or you may start by navigating to the Comment tab first.

To begin the workflow from the Comment tab rather than the feature, continue reading.

On Desktop, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu. Then, click Comments from the Messaging dropdown.

Navigate between a single selected Job, view All Listed Jobs, or switch between different Jobs while on the Comments tab.

Choose to View By Conversation to compile all of the Comments from a single conversation into one expandable module, or View by Comment, to show individual Comments.

Utilize the Filter by Keyword, by Type (by feature), User Type (Internal Users, Subs/Vendors, etc), or by Date.


Comments | Mobile

To view the Comments from the mobile app, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu.

First, click More from the menu bar and find Comments from within the Messaging tab.

View all Comments on any feature across the selected Job. Click the view the conversation, or click the (+) to create a new Comment.

Simply open the conversation and use the text box to reply.

After clicking the (+), choose the feature to add the Comment to.

Next, choose the specific item you'd like to Comment on.


Messages

Messages can act as an internal inbox for each Job, creating an effective way to keep all correspondences organized. This feature is accessible on both Desktop and Mobile.

On Desktop, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu. Then, click Messages from the Messaging dropdown.

Navigate between a single selected Job, view All Listed Jobs, or switch between different Jobs while on the Comments tab.

Messages act like an email inbox. Any original messages sent in Buildertrend will store replies within Buildertrend. With the right notification settings, you'll receive messages in both your external email and Buildertrend.

You can reply directly from your email or in Buildertrend, where all communications are conveniently recorded for documentation.

Click the Compose New Message to begin.

Add Attachments by searching Buildertrend, or your desktop.

Select receipts who you're connected with via Buildertrend, or add an external email address.

Enter the external email address and click Done.


Messages | Mobile

To view the Messages from the mobile app, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu.

Then, click More from the menu bar and find Messages from within the Messaging tab.

Select Inbox to read and respond to incoming messages.

Select the Message to interact, (reply, delete, etc.) by using the tools displayed.

To compose a new Message, click the notepad icon.

Choose your internal or external recipients by clicking Select Contacts, or External Emails.

Create a Subject line, then choose Send.


RFIs

RFIs, or request for information, are a great way to gather important information about a specific part of a job, especially if you are on a deadline. This feature is accessible on both Desktop and Mobile.

*Note: You may navigate to the feature you wish to create an RFI for and begin the workflow there, or you may start by navigating to the RFI tab first.

On Desktop, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu. Then, click RFIs from the Messaging dropdown.

View and respond to existing RFIs, or create a new one by clicking New RFI.

Include key details such as the Title, Due Date, Assignees (select from the dropdown), Attachments, and, of course, the Question. If this RFI is linked to another item in Buildertrend, you can connect them by adding a Related Item.


RFI | Mobile

To view the RFIs from the mobile app, first select the Job from the Jobs Menu.

First, click More from the menu bar and find RFIs from within the Messaging tab.

View all RFIs on any feature across the selected Job. Click the view the conversation, or click the (+) to create a new RFIs.

Include key details such as the Title, Due Date, Assignees (select from the dropdown), Attachments, and, of course, the Question. If this RFI is linked to another item in Buildertrend, you can connect them by adding a Related Item.

Click Submit.
